Nick Norton-Smith is an established composer/multi instrumentalist with a multifaceted career in film, TV and the performing arts. His work ranges from iconic TV themes, factual and entertainment shows to RTS, BAFTA and Academy Award nominated films.
Nick studied composition with Amit Sen (Head of Arranging and Composition, Royal Academy of Music) and began his career as saxophone/woodwind player with the Oxford University Revue featuring Patrick Marber.
Studying jazz saxophone with Jean Toussaint ( Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers) at Guildhall School of Music London along with Bob Reynolds (Snarky Puppy) and classical flute with Ian Clarke Professor of flute, Guildhall School of Music, London.
Nick draws experience from a successful and diverse performing career spanning 16 West End shows & international tours with numerous artists including Frank Sinatra, Cynthia Erivo, Acid jazz legends The Brand New Heavies, The Proclaimers and many more.
Winner best musician Edinburgh International Jazz Festival.
Commissions include SKY, BBC (all broadcast platforms) ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, RTE, Lloyds Bank, BFI, BAFTA, The Guardian, Google and numerous international broadcasters and production companies.
Major syncs with high profile brands and platforms including SKY, Lloyds Bank, CBS America, CNN, Masterchef, UBS.
Nick is a voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) The Ivors Academy of Music Creators and a member of the Music Creators Mentoring Programme.
